My first pair of Merrell's was the Chameleon Arc that I bought for my first intense backpacking trip in Wind Rivers. They were so amazing that I was wearing them all around campus (and I walk all over the place, all day long) with the snow and everything. I wanted to get a lighter pair to use for running, walking, biking, etc so I bought these and they were just as wonderful. I have very wide feet and I got the regular width and they fit perfectly and didn't really have to be broken in. Also, I gave them a real test the other day when I went running through a local campground. Unbeknownst to me, the trail was flooded towards the middle. When I got there I could see the other end of the trail and there were a lot of branches/trees so I thought I'd try to get across. Well, I ended up halfway across, soaked to the knee and covered in mud and all sorts of messy nature. The shoes were probably submerged in water for around 20 minutes and then when I finally made it back to the trail, I ran home and set my mud-covered, soaked shoes outside to dry. Even with all that abuse, there's been no damage and they're just as good as new. Incredibly comfortable, waterproof, light but really strong and good for your feet....these are fabulous shoes!
